HUNSTANTON residents and visitors are being asked for their views on the beach dog ban.
Dogs were banned from the bathing area of the town's beach all year round as part of a new dog control order brought in by West Norfolk Council six months ago.

A survey is now being carried out asking whether the ban has made the beach cleaner and whether it should remain in place all year round.

Brian Long, the authority's cabinet member for environment, said: "We introduced the borough-wide dog control order six months ago, which made it an offence for a person not to clear up after their dog on land to which the public is entitled or permitted to have access to.

"It also introduced a yearround exclusion area for dogs on the bathing beach in Hunstanton, while leaving miles of beach for them to have access to either side of the bathing beach.

"A year-round restriction was also introduced on the promenade adjacent to the bathing beach making it a requirement for dogs to be kept on a lead. When we introduced this new order we agreed we would monitor and review its impact."

Beach survey forms are now being handed out to visitors until Saturday. The forms can also be completed online by visiting: www.west-norfolk.gov.uk
It includes questions about the cleanliness of the bathing beach, promenade and public facilities and about personal experiences.

Respondents are also asked how their visit compares to previous visits, whether they agree or disagree that dogs should be banned from the bathing beach and what months they think the ban should be in place.
