RAMBLERS are being invited to join a stunning sponsored walk through some of Norfolk's finest countryside and help raise money for roof repairs at an historic church.
Villagers at Castle Rising have undertaken the massive task of raising around £25,000 to fix the roof at St Lawrence's Church.

To help boost the appeal a ten-mile sponsored walk through parts of the Castle Rising and Sandringham Estate is being held on Sunday, when organisers hope to raise £1,000 towards the bill.

Parish council vice-chairman David Goddard, who is helping to organise the event, told the Lynn News: "It is a beautiful walk and people can come along and make donations if they wish.

"They will have access to parts of the estate they do not normally have access to and they will be walking close to the Babingley River, which is very picturesque."

Organisers are hoping those who walk will get sponsorship for the event and will also consider making a £10 donation for taking part.

The walk starts between 9am and 10am from the strawberry fields near the castle.

Free parking will be available for walkers and the route will be clearly signposted, avoiding most highways. Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a lead.

Invitations, walk applications and sponsorship forms are now available from Castle Rising Post Office and The Black Horse, or by calling the estate office on 01553 631390.
