Change is a Labour ploy
The boundary change proposals are basically a Labour government ploy to "divide and conquer" or more correctly conquer and divide.
If a predominently Conservative area can be co-joined and ruled by a Labour-dominated central ruling body there is less chance of overthrowing this morally-corrupt Labour government with its pro-EU ideals (no UK referendum on the Lisbon Treaty and concurring with other EU-dominant goverments – France and Germany – in not understanding the Irish NO vote. The EU is communism in another guise).
Mike Oldfield (letters Friday 11 July) has obviously no love for any Conservative governing body, local or national.
Since the Conservatives have regained control of local government in West Norfolk we have had equal or below-inflation rises in local taxation, with only above-inflation elements by police and county council bodies – Labour dominated or Labour influenced by reduced central government funding (they had to increase their precept because they were receiving less from government subsidies because we are mainly a Conservative voting area)).
The present West Norfolk Council has done more than any previous local council in applying for and obtaining "growth status" which attracts up to £24 million of additional funding.
This will allow further funding from other sources and give this area potential to expand and develop.
Lynn has an area of influence of more than 25 miles incorporating Swaffham, Hunstanton, Downham, Wisbech and Long Sutton.
Towns and villlages within this circumference gravitate towards Lynn for shopping, entertainment and services.
That is why Lynn and West Norfolk must retain control of its destiny.
We must not allow our community to be ruled remotely by entities who have no interest in allowing us to expand, develop and mature.
Mike Riggs, 16 St Peter's Close, West Lynn
