I felt I must write to you to express my admiration for the way Lynn Arts Centre has organised and presented the exhibition of post-war Czech glass.
The “Hi Sklo Lo Sklo” exhibition has gained exceptional internet and press coverage, particularly
in Crafts Magazine (Journal of the Crafts Council) where there is an eight-page colour preview of the exhibition.
This is the most coverage ever given by the Crafts Council to a glass exhibition.
A book has been published fully funded by an independent publisher to accompany the exhibition and a film maker from Sky TV has filmed a documentary.
The opening presentations included an hour long presentation from a former director of Christies and attended by two of the experts from the BBC Antiques Roadshow.
I understand the visitor numbers to the exhibition have averaged around three hundred per day which I am advised is quite outstanding.
What particularly impressed me during the planning and setup of the exhibition was the incredible dedication of the Arts Centre staff.
Working long into the evening with a team with such enthusiasm and dedication was a real pleasure for me.
There innovative ideas and energy produce a stunning end result; eeking out every possibility from a relatively small budget.
This is the third decorative arts exhibition at the Arts Centre to gain coverage in the national press and the venue is now a real national asset as well as a local one. I do hope that everyone in the locality is aware of this jewel in Lynn’s crown.
I also hope that you can find a moment in your doubtless hectic schedule to visit this important event which runs until tomorrow.
