What an excellent letter from Mrs Delph in a recent Lynn News, expressing her opinion about the restrictions relating to Gaywood's Rosebery Avenue, and the residents of the street.
This is such a classic piece of "me first" culture.
The authorities and the contractors have gone to great lengths to communicate with everyone about the necessary restrictions relating to the essential works in Gaywood, so there can be no excuse for not knowing what these restrictions were.
There is also no excuse for not abiding by them.
If all the traffic normally using Wootton Road was routed through Rosebery Avenue, the result would be chaos.
This road is very narrow, even allowing for the residents parking, which they have a perfect right to do, and can be difficult to negotiate at the best of times.
It is commonsense to close the road to through-traffic, to avoid congestion and to protect the safety of those who live there.
Having compassion and offering a helping hand works both ways, so why not offer some to the residents of Rosebery Avenue?
It occurs to me that the reason why the street was so quiet when Mrs Delph drove through it was that everyone else was abiding by the restrictions and were using the alternative routes as requested.
I have to travel through Gaywood several times a day, so like many others have to use the diversions.
I do not find it a big issue and the journeys take just a few minutes longer to complete.
It's only for a few weeks after all, so what's the problem?
And, yes, I pay my council and road taxes on time!

- I read the letter in the Lynn News from Janet Payne.
I don't understand this big thing with all your correspondents that residents of Rosebery Ave should be tolerant and kind.
What is so special about Ms Payne and all the other drivers that they should be allowed to break the law.
They come down Wootton Road knowing full well the road is closed.
Why do they do this? Why are they above the law? That is what they are doing.
If you don't like it remember, it's for safety and only for a few weeks and if you can't cope with this how many other laws are you breaking because you don't like them and you believe than you can do what you want to do with impunity.

- To J. Payne, reference the road closure in letters
.
The PCSO was correct in sending you around the closure, which is signed as a closure.
However, you may like to return to Rosebery Avenue when the roadworks are complete, and take photographs of all the residents parked on yellow lines, at times they should not, and all those parked on the pavements at all times and ask the same PCSO to take action against them, and to give you feedback as to that action.
If you get a refusal to take action, by the police, a complaint of neglect of duty would be in order to the IPCA (Independant Police Complaints Authority).
PC, Reffley
- I am very angry with the situation at Rosebery Avenue, Gaywood.
