No, P. Ancient, you are not the only mug – I am one too. (Lynn News letters, August 12).
Earlier this year, during a check-up, I asked my dentist to clean my teeth and get rid of some of the stain from when I smoked. He said my teeth didn't need it. Downstairs, I asked the receptionist why my teeth weren't cleaned when it was included in the check-up fee. She told me it is only if the dentist deems it necessary. Like you, I took it no further as I did not want to be called a troublemaker and maybe thrown off the list. However, it is a disgrace as it used to be carried out at every check up once upon a time.

Carol Williams, Downham
