More concern on turbines
I read with interest the article about the proposed windfarm in Tilney, especially the comment from a Mr Robinson saying he was very happy. I can only assume he attended a different event than I did, because from his standpoint he should have been very very unhappy.
The strength of anti-feeling which was in the hall that evening was unmistakable. the question was put to one of the "experts": can you sense that most people here are strongly against this project, the answer was "yes I feel that."
Even if people were of an open mind before they came (and I was with quite a few in this category) many must have left being totally bemused by some of the so- called experts there to answer questions.
One was so way out of their depth, even when faced with some of the most straight-forward questions, such as those about the impact on wildlife, flicker and most notably the vibrations that could affect houses, not only when, or if, these turbines are up and running but the damage that will undoubtedly occur during their construction.
This question was also put to one of the experts, from the company building the windfarm, his answer was: "if proved we will pay compensation" while another said "not our problem sue, the government."
If that type of patronising answer was not enough, the look on the faces of those asking questions when the same "expert" admitted that this size of turbine had never been built and in fact was still at an experimental stage.
GUINEA PIGS
This prompted the obvious follow-up question: "does this mean we are just guinea pigs", the answer coming with an affirmative nod.
It would appear, from questions asked, that this enterprise is based on nothing more than an assimilated computer program, with very little feeling shown toward those living in the area or for that matter very little feeling for the area at all.
I feel that until these so called "experts" can reassure everybody in the "real" world that they know what they are doing it would be best to leave well alone.
