Nowich/Lowestoft regime will cause bad changes
Published Date:

I wish to register my acute disappointment in the very bad decision taken, which will amalgamate the whole of Norfolk and Lowestoft under one "governing body".
The most obvious and by far the best solution for the boundary changes would have been the "east/west" split as has been discussed in the Lynn News.
We are currently ruled by Norwich and therefore everything "Norwich" and east of Norwich takes priority then comes North Norfolk and finally West Norfolk.
If Lowestoft is then entered into the equation, the eastern area will for sure take precedence and West Norfolk will be even lower down the scale.
Dividing the county in two separate halves makes much more sense and will make it far easier to manage and better for everybody concerned as the ruling body for each half will then have more local knowledge and more local interest.
West Norfolk is running a very good ordered "shop" which will be lost and the benefits of a "local" authority will disappear under the one-ruling- body scheme.
IDENTITY
We wish to keep our own identity and not to become one of the very minor minions under a Norwich/Lowestoft regime which will undoubtedly cause many bad changes for this area. We will certainly not be better off under this one unitary council!
Too many decisions affecting us are made now by people in Norwich who have never been to this area let alone who know what is good for the people of this area.
Far better for all concerned that those who know and love the area should have the most say in how it is run.
