IT IS now very clear that the Post Office has embarked upon a programme of closures based upon information which is inaccurate and of little merit and it is up to us all to do something about it.
The level of understanding and empathy with the needs of the customers demonstrates poor judgement on the part of the administrators as to the needs of a traditional community.

Together with councillors Andy Tyler and Irene MacDonald I intend to give maxium support to local people who find their post office services under threat. We represent the area including North End, where Loke Road Post Office faces closure and will be focusing our efforts in that direction, but if you are facing closures in other areas I am certain that your local representatives will give their full suppport to your efforts to retain the service.

We have already been in close contact withn the local postmaster, who is enthusiatically encouraging customers to write to the Post Office saying why the Loke Road service should be retained. The gathering of names on a petition will not serve the purpose on this occasion, but a large number of letters will have a beneficial influence.

If you live in the North End area, or nearby, and you value the service of our post office, please support the cause for retention by writing a short letter. Your post office will advise on the address and if you want any suggestions about what to write, we will be pleased to help.

Please remember that letters must be forwarded without delay in order to meet the June 2 deadline.

Contact Loke Road Post Office today for further information.
