Power station greed not need

Lynn Power Station: News of application for mega plant at Saddlebow – here we go again, 11 years on, same old chestnuts – over-emphasis on local employment and need.
No statement on emissions or detriment to our environment.
Eleven years ago West Norfolk Council turned down an application to enlarge the existing station as it proved that Siemens built the first station and brought over all its own workmen from Germany, only a handful of local people were employed.
Even when built the stations are fully automatic and need few staff.
The environmental impact and emissions from the site which were proved to flow from the site, into town in a triangle to the Wootton area and beyond.
Added to this, the amount of pylons and cable on our landscape altogether prompted an overwhelming no vote.
Since then, another larger power station has been built at Sutton Bridge. there is no shortage of electricity, and what a tourist attraction just over a nautical mile downstream, a waste paper plant and mega power station!
Personally, as I struggle with ever increasing power bills – why build a power station when there is no shortage of electricity, the gas required to power it up is expensive and running out, and none of this will benefit local people long term at all.
I know the answer, greed not need!
