Wider Ouse bridge is only possible route

RE: Roads and Transport in Lynn (Lynn News, Friday, October 3):
I WOULD expect most, if not all, who live in Lynn to know that there are only three ways by road into Lynn town centre.
From the north all traffic must go past the traffic lights at the end of North Street where it meets John Kennedy Road.
From the east all traffic must pass over Dodman's Bridge.
From the south all traffic must pass the Millfleet, and St James' Road, London Road junction traffic lights.
From the west there is the Ouse River which may be crossed by people on the ferry.
Alternatively, they must travel to the south and follow the southerly approach.
Clearly this causes additional traffic to the south route.
And with recent and proposed additional development in the southern area this will obviously cause more congestion in London Road.
Not many years ago the council was talking of park- and-ride schemes, but nothing has appeared to date. Should this be looked into again?
It could reduce the traffic to and from the town centre.
One scheme I have heard many speak of would entail running something suitable along the railway line from the bypass into the station.
To find a route for an additional road is not easy as all land is built on.
The only possible route I can think of as a restricted possibility, is to widen and strengthen the river bank from the Cut Bridges into Lynn and build a road for cars and bikes only on it, terminating at Boal Quay.
This would require strict controls (with a narrow road width entrance at each end, and be well sign posted) so that lorries could not get access to pass along it.
