Thank you for having brought the current landscape maintenance regime at Hardwick Road to the attention of your readers (Lynn News, last Friday).
Contrary to the comment made by the council officials that the Friends of Hardwick Road Cemetery had been consulted over the change, no such consultation took place, and I certainly received no communication from them.

The cemetery did indeed look better in June 2007, and a return to the gentle form of maintenance pursued then would be of great benefit to the cemetery and its visitors.

Of course, certain areas would be suitable for maintenance relaxation, and I am sure that those areas of the cemetery so suited can be identified should an on-site consultation with the council be offered.

A family open day is being held at Hardwick Road between 10am and 4pm on Saturday, July 12, to which everyone is invited. The Mayor of Lynn will be attending, by which time I assume that the grass will have been cut.

Julian Litten,
Chairman,
Friends of Hardwick Road Cemetery
