Our picture from 1968-69 shows students from Lynn Academy of Dancing and was sent in by Lindy Bristow, of Feltwell, following our recent preview on the academy’s 50th anniversary show staged at Lynn Arts Centre.

Lindy (née Lynette Heavens) says the picture shows her ballet class which danced to the music Thank Heavens for Little Girls “hence the pretty dresses and bonnets which were all made up by our mums and various helpers”.

She adds: “This would have been one of the first shows Karen Waite put on at the Arts Centre at the beginning of her career as principal.

“I will always remember Miss Karen and my dancing years with the school with much fondness and send Karen all my best wishes for her 50th anniversary celebration show.

“I can only name a few of the girls in the picture: Vicky Walters, first left on the back row and her sister Geraldine Walters, second from the left on the front row. I am back row second right standing next to Susan Bradley first right back row. Unfortunately I cannot remember the names of the other girls but I am sure somebody will recognise themselves as some of the girls are still living locally.”

Readers who may recognise themselves or any of the other young dancers in the photograph can contact the Lynn News with their memories via email to newsdesk@lynnnews.co.uk or write to us at Newsdesk, Lynn News, Limes House, Purfleet Street, King’s Lynn PE30 1HL
