Author's talk to Lynn music society
BASIL Tschaikov, author of 'The Music goes round and around', will be speaking at the next meeting of King's Lynn Music Society on Wednesday (March 17).
Tschaikov has had an unusually diverse life in music spanning more than 60 years.
Between 1943 and 1979, he was a member of three of the world's finest orchestras – the London Philharmonic, Royal Philharmonic and Philharmonia, playing with conductors such as Sir Thomas Beecham,
Bruno Walter, Victor de Sabata, Herbert von Karajan, Otto Klemperer,
Carlo Maria Giulini and Sir Simon Rattle.
He became involved in activities such as music educator, negotiator,
writer and administrative director when he conceived, initiated and ran the National Centre for Orchestral Studies in London.
He was the prime force in the creation of a unique archive, the
Music Performance research centre, now Music Preserved.
His talk, called 'a Fortunate Life', will take place in the Town
Hall at 7.30pm. Non-members are welcome, cost being 7.50 at the door,
though the talk is free to under 18s and those with membership
affiliated to FrMs. For more information visit www.klmusicsoc.org.uk
