DOWNHAM MARKET: Horse fun ‘reins’ at parade

A gentle giant and a petite pony led the annual St Winnold’s Day parade through Downham on Friday.
Local schoolchildren participated in the equine fun by lining the route waving mini- hobby horses and wearing rosettes they had made.
The parade is a reminder of horse fairs held in the town in bygone days. Visiting dignitaries included the High Sheriff of Norfolk, Henry Cator.
Downham mayor Robin Pegg said: “Everyone looks forward to the parade. It’s like a mini-pageant. I’ve had nothing but positive comments about it. What else can I say apart from it was fantastic.”
