DOWNHAM MARKET: Pupils have an arty party in Big Draw

More than 400 pupils at Hillcrest Primary School, Downham, explored their artistic talents by joining in a national Big Draw initiative.
The youngsters used some of their break time for the drop in and draw sessions and each made something unique for the project.
Parents, carers and governors joined in for the afternoon session when there was particular focus on flowers and still life, studying detail and the contrast between light and dark areas.
Elizabeth Dixon, a member of the school’s art team, said: “The Big Draw event is a fantastic opportunity to enthuse and excite children to hopefully find a life-long love of drawing and creativity.
“At Hillcrest we encourage children to select their own starting points, use a wide variety of mediums, and to evaluate their own and others’ work.

“This is part the school calendar they all really look forward to and each year it gets bigger and better.”
