With one sell-out gig under their belts already and yet more acts to be announced - it looks like another summer of sterling performances is to be expected from the Forestry Commission’s Thetford concerts.

Already confirmed are the legendary Paul Weller, pop icons Blondie and Dublin’s finest The Script - and with The Jam’s frontman already sold out, it is only matter of time until all the tickets are gone.

Very few performers have enjoyed the success and influence over four decades that Paul Weller has, with six era-defining albums with The Jam, five with The Style Council and 11 as a solo artist including his most recent number one release Sonik Kicks, the follow-up to 2010’s Mercury Music Prize nominated Wake Up The Nation.

Having performed previously to capacity crowds in 2004 and 2009, Paul Weller, said: “It will be good for me to be back in the woods. I really enjoy the unique atmosphere of these gigs as do the fans.”

Blondie emerged from New York’s celebrated new wave scene producing innovative music with their rock/disco, reggae and hip-hop influenced songs. Fronted by Deborah Harry, their groundbreaking material brought them a stash of hit singles such as Denis, Union City Blue and Rapture.

Few acts can match their 20-year span of number one’s from Heart Of Glass, Sunday Girl, The Tide Is High to Maria. Their singles success complemented by album sales of more than 40 million has ensured worldwide superstar status for this pioneering band.

The band will perform with special guests The Lightning Seeds, who will perform an acoustic set of their pop songs Pure, Lucky You and Change.

Since the release of their eponymous debut album in 2009, The Script broke Britain, then the U.S. then everywhere from Asia to South Africa with their meticulously-crafted and meaningful songs such as We Cry, The Man Who Can’t Be Moved, Nothing and For The First Time. Generating sales of over four million albums and a staggering nine million singles,

the band are truly established in the global arena. Their third and latest album release, appropriately entitled #3, sees band members Danny O’Donoghue, Mark Sheehan and Glen Power continuing their success and includes the hits Six Degrees Of Separation and Hall Of Fame featuring Will.I.Am.

Lead vocalist, Danny O’Donoghue, said, “We loved our Thetford forest debut to a sell-out crowd in 2011 and can’t wait to get back on that stage again. Hope to see you there.”

Blondie will be performing on June 15, tickets cost £36.

The Script will be performing on July 11, tickets cost £32.50.

Paul Weller will be performing the following night, tickets are sold out.

Tickets are available from the Forestry Commission box office on 03000 680400 or go to www.forestry.gov.uk/music
