For the second year running, West Norfolk’s primary radio station has been awarded the prestigious Nations and Regions Award for East Anglia.
The team at KL.FM won the Radio Academy award for the second year running and were one of 11 radio stations based in regions across Great Britain to win.
The judges said of the Lynn-based radio station: “Year on year KL.FM continues to build on its local heritage and well-earned reputation for radio excellence.
“Their local focus and care have won them true listener loyalty and KL.FM has a genuine sense of fun. You can’t fake that!”
The winners will now be put forward for the chance to win the 2013 Sony Awards for Radio Station of the Year with an audience of under 300,000 for the second year in a row.
Managing director of KL.FM, Darren Taylor said: “This award is recognition for the hard work and dedication of the whole team here at KL.FM and I’m immensely proud of them all.
“In the last 12 months, we’ve worked tirelessly in, and with, the community in West Norfolk.”
He added: “We’ve supported dozens of charitable events, we brough Lemar and Marcus Collins to Festival Too and we’ve been present at numerous other events.
“We’ve given away thousands of pounds of prizes and, of course, we’ve kept our listeners entertained with the best music choice anywhere on the radio.”
KL.FM was the first radio station to exclusively serve West Norfolk from its launch in July 1992. Before this date the area was mainly served by BBC Radio Norfolk.
