Filmmakers at King’s Lynn Academy are looking for pledges of support and sponsorship for their most ambitious project yet, as they prepare to film their low-budget superhero movie.

Jacob Burman, 17, from North Lynn, said: “We want to take it further than we did in the last film and now we have a new green screen and camera to do that.

“We hope it will be a big success like the last film but we need help to get started.

“We’ve even got some of our teachers all set to star in the film and we’re hoping to get it shown at the Majestic cinema.”

Members of the school’s Film Club, which is among the top groups in the country and boasts one of the few school production teams in the UK, are eager to get started on their next film.

Despite using borrowed equipment and being tightly-bound by a £30 budget, the film crew were pleased to see their last film, The Spying Game, a romantic comedy about a policeman, become a huge success.

Their next film is much more ambitious, Too Cool to Kickass is a 30-minute comedy about teenage superheroes, which will require custom-made costumes and props.

Teacher Lee McCowen said: “The students have created a Kickstarter project and are offering exclusive rewards for their backers including copies of the DVD, limited edition behind-the-scenes prints and even costumes.

“With the funding, the students can make and produce the film. They can also use some of the money to submit it to the British Board of Film Classification so that it can be shown in local cinemas. They can sell copies of it and have it recorded as part of British cinema history.

“The project is all or nothing, so if the students do not reach their goal of £500 of pledges they will be unable to complete their film.”

Go to www.kickstarter.com and search Too Cool to Kickass to read more and donate to the filmmakers.
