HELPING good causes was a walk in the park for Lynn town guides who donated £2,500 to six local charities.

The presentation is an annual event for the team of 18 volunteer guides who lead historic walks around town from May to October.

Richard Morley, immediate past chairman, said funds were raised by leading about 100 tours during each season.

Walks range from from spooky tours like the darker side of Lynn to a Victorian Lynn and a docklands tour.

The guided walk scheme is into its 35th year and continues to be a success with guides adding new interests and areas of Lynn with each new season.

Charities which benefited this year were Lynn Minster (St Margaret’s Church), the Catholic church, Green Quay, True’s Yard, the Preservation Trust and the Friends of St Nicholas Chapel.

Coming up on the guides’ calendar is the annual lecture.

That is held on March 28 and is about East coast towns and the Norman conquest.
