New wine fans welcome

CASUAL wine drinkers and committed connoisseurs have been invited to help boost the King’s Lynn Wine Appreciation Society’s numbers.

The group meets on the second Friday of alternate months at Thoresby College in Lynn.

At the meetings, six to eight wines are presented according to a specific theme, while their production and characteristics are discussed by a speaker.

Bread and cheese are served with the tastings and there is often the chance to order wines from the merchants at a discount.

There are six meetings a year, of which four feature a speaker.

The other meetings are an annual dinner and one is the AGM where members can enjoy wines, snacks and a quiz.

Membership costs £14 and meetings are charged at between £15 and £20 depending on the type of presentation taking place.

The society is a non-profit organisation and any extra money raised during the year is spent on the annual dinner.

If you are interested in joining the society, please contact John Martin at cajon@globalnet.co.uk
