An Oxford University student from North Wootton saw her wildest dreams come true when she made her cinematic debut as Amanda Seyfried’s body double in Les Misérables.

Emily Hinks, 20, who studies classics, signed up to a website called Universal Extras just months ago and was quickly whisked off for the part.

A lover of drama and dance, Emily has been a member of Footlights Performing Arts School since she was five-years-old, she has also performed with Kult Theatre Group and Westacre Theatre.

She said: “I’ve been a massive fan of Les Misérables since I was little, I know every word to every one of the songs and so do my family. Several people have said before that I look like Amanda Seyfried and it has obviously paid off.”

She received a text asking her to be at Pinewood Studios, London, the next day when the crew would be finishing off the filming. Amanda Seyfried had left the set and they needed the last side shots of the character of Cosette.

Emily said: “As soon as I arrived I was swept away into hair and makeup – I was sitting down next to Helena Bonham Carter and Sasha Baron Cohen who were rehearsing their song One Day.”

She added: “The set was amazing, you would walk through a door and instantly be in the streets of Paris.”

Emily was asked to wear the dress worn by Amanda Seyfried in the wedding scenes while she was filmed in the horse and carriage, but it was her scene outside the Thénardiers’ Inn that made it into the final cut. You can spot her on the right side of the screen as Santa is dragged away on his sleigh.

She said: “It was only two seconds, but I will always be in that scene in Les Misérables.

“The whole thing was just amazing and getting the text was just unreal. It’s just the best possible film I could ever have hoped to be asked for and to know that my scene is actually in the final edit is incredible.”
