Panto - Greatest panto ever... no lie
The classic story of the little wooden puppet who wanted to be a real boy is the latest pantomime offering from Clenchwarton Methodist Entertainment Group.
The group will be performing its own version of Pinocchio at Clenchwarton Methodist Church Hall next week, in aid of West Norfolk Young Carers' Group – and younger actors are leading the way.
All except three parts have been taken by youngsters, with Jessica Paske in the lead as Pinocchio and Holly King as Jiminy Cricket.
Roger Derbyshire is playing Mary the Hairy Fairy, who brings Pinocchio to life and is also the Dame, and CMEG newcomer Ron Biggins is Gepetto the puppet-maker.
The show has been written and directed by Daphne Mace, Sheila Langston and Elspeth Hardy, who have also put together all the costumes.
Mrs Hardy said the group was pleased to be supporting the West Norfolk Young Carers' Group as it's a local charity set up by Councillor Ann Clery-Fox during her term as West Norfolk Mayor.
CMEG began performing in 1984 and has been donating money raised by its plays to different charities ever since, including Save the Children, the RNLI, Guide Dogs for the Blind, Clenchwarton Methodist Church and many more.
Tickets for Pinocchio, priced at 4 (3 concessions), are available from Mrs Langston on 01553 829840, Mrs Hardy on 01553 775698 or Mrs Mace on 01553 773164.
