People sought for 100 per cent Norfolk show

A NEW show called 100 per cent Norfolk will star its population - and people from Lynn and surroundings areas could be included!

Norfolk and Norwich Festival is on the hunt for 100 men, women and children from across the county to take part in performances of the show at Norwich’s Theatre Royal.

“Together, they need to be as representative of the county’s total population of 862,000 as possible. So, with 51 per cent of the county’s population being female, 51 women and girls need to take part,” a spokesman said, adding that other criteria included age, location and place of birth.

The approach meant that as many people from West Norfolk would be on stage as from the city of Norwich, the spokesman said.

Once assembled, the cast will work with professional theatre director Emma Bernard to create a unique performance for a large-scale show.

Project manager Louise Dennison said: “The way we’re recruiting the cast for the show is through a sort of chain reaction, so that everyone that takes part will already know at least one other person. To help get the chain going, we’re asking people involved in local groups to get in touch.”

From famers in Fincham to lollipop ladies in Lynn and grannies in Gayton to nephews in Narborough, the 100 per cent Norfolk cast will create one of the highlights of this year’s festival, taking place from May 11 to 26.
