Reduced library hours in West Norfolk from this autumn

NORFOLK County Council has announced changes to the opening hours of its libraries in West Norfolk from this autumn following public consultation.

Different opening time options were put forward for each of the council’s 47 libraries across Norfolk, to reduce opening hours by an average of ten per cent, when the consultation was launched in May.

Feedback was collected from more than 8,000 people and the options chosen by the majority have determined each library’s revised opening times, which will take effect from October 3.

The council was determined that none of its libraries would close as part of its cost-saving measures, which were needed to meet an estimated funding gap of £155m over the next three years after a cut in Government grants and rising costs.

Changes at the seven libraries in West Norfolk will be as follows:

Dersingham library – Monday 1.30pm-7.30pm (currently 10am-1pm, 2.30pm-7.30pm);
