Saxophones appeal at Fakenham
THE Nottingham-based Equinox Saxophone Ensemble will be in concert at Fakenham Parish church on May 21.
The group is made up of nine saxophonists along with a percussion player and boasts a repertoire incorporating jazz, pop, folk and classical music.
In a wide-ranging programme for their visit to Fakenham, Equinox will include Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Riverdance and Sing Sing Sing.
The newest member of the group is Sarah Markham, who recently performed at the Purcell Room on London’s South Bank.
She will play Cimarosa’s oboe concerto on soprano sax.
Founder member Nicola Pennill has strong associations with Fakenham.
She is a former pupil of the grammar school, the daughter of local residents Doreen and Graham Goodberry and was confirmed and married in the parish church.
Tickets for the concert, which starts at 7.30 pm, are £10 (under 16s free) and available from the parish office on 01328 862268 or Doreen on 01328 864364.
There will be interval refreshments and proceeds from the evening will go to the church development fund. To find out more about Equinox visit www.equinoxsax.org.uk
