Stroke survivors show work at Lynn Arts Centre
YOUNG stroke survivors who used arts and crafts to help regain control of their lives and develop new skills are showcasing their work at Lynn Arts Centre.
Members of the Lynn branch of Different Strokes, a national charity set up to help young stroke survivors, are holding an exhibition of their work following a project with the centre's galleries and education service.
Thanks to a West Norfolk Council arts development training grant, they have been given the chance to work with various artists over the course of several months.
Arts development manager Liz Falconbridge said: "The results on display in the Fermoy Gallery speak for themselves and are a testament not only to their determination, but also to their reawakened talents."
EXHIBITION AT ARTS CENTRE
The exhibition is being launched tomorrow (Saturday, November 15) and will be open Tuesday to Saturday, 11am to 4pm, until Saturday, December 20.
Stroke survivors Stephanie Walford, Marion Kenan and Marian Horner have been working with artist Inge-Lise Greaves on a range of unique and stylish handbags and jewellery, while Chris and Bob Key and Terry Makin have worked with John Hughes on landscape and still life painting.
James Gledhill will also be displaying his portraits, drawings and prints following an intensive mark-making course with assistant arts and educational manager Nick Neal.
Many of their pieces will be on sale, with money raised going towards the charity.
