These children at Wimbotsham Primary School were pictured in March, 1977, when there were 66 boys and girls aged from five to eleven on the register.
The school dated back to the 1880s and had changed little since those days. However, the headteacher, David Oldridge, told the Lynn News: “I always say that it is the quality of the teaching that counts, not the building.”
His staff had a good relationship with parents, who were encouraged to visit the classrooms and watch the children at work and chat about their progress.
A Friends of the School organisation had also been set up to organised fundraising activities.
