Sandringham Women’s Institute members are pictured celebrating the branch’s 95th birthday with a luncheon at Caley Hall, Old Hunstanton.

Their speaker was Maureen Rispin who came in the guise of Mrs Watt, one of the founder members.

It was Mrs Watt who was invited to Sandringham in 1919 by Queen Mary to talk to the women of the village about the Women’s Institute movement. The outcome was the formation of the Sandringham branch on February 26.

During the birthday event, celebratory cup cakes were given to members, and two toasts were made – one to the 95 years of Sandringham Institute and one to The Queen, who is the current president and traditionally attends the January branch meeting.
