LINNETS manager Keith Webb has given striker Danny Bloomfield until the end of today to decide on his future at The Walks.
Fans' favourite Bloomfield, scorer of 74 goals in 151 appearances during three spells with the club, this week made it clear that he wasn't happy with the extra travelling involved following Lynn's promotion to the Conference North.

Webb said: "I have given Danny until the end of Friday to make a final decision as it isn't good for the player or the club if it rumbles on.

"I understand where Danny is coming from and he has made his feelings clear, but I think his calculations of the extra travelling involved are a little wayward."

Matty Nolan's future with the club is also up in the air with the frontman holding out for a better package than the one he has already been offered.

Webb said: "Matty is already one of the better-paid players at the club but he is holding out for better terms.

"There just isn't the finances to give him want he wants so it's now down to him."

If Bloomfield and Nolan (two of Lynn's most south-erly-based players) both leave, a new striker will be at the top of Webb's wanted list.

Webb said: "Matty and Danny got 30 goals between them last season and players like these are not easy to replace. Available goalscorers like these are few and far between."

Webb set the record straight on Leo Fortune-West, who has signed for Lynn's Conference North rivals Alfreton Town.

"I was interested in Leo just after our FA Trophy run but haven't made any enquiries since then," said Webb.

"He's still a fit lad and will probably cause one or teams problems at this level, but he is 37 and we need experience and leadership in other areas of the pitch."

Both Dean West and Michael Frew have given Webb their word that they will report back for pre-season training, while the remainder of last season's squad, minus Mark Warren, have agreed to re-sign.

Webb said his mobile had been red-hot with phone calls with players wanting to join the club since Lynn's promotion to the Conference.

"It's surprising just how many players have been ringing me up wanting to join us.

"There have been one or two interesting ones, but some have priced themselves out of the market.

"A lot of them have heard that we are big payers and that there is a money train at King's Lynn, but that isn't the truth."

Webb added: "It's all ifs and buts at the minute, but I'm not going to panic and bring anyone in just for the sake of it.

"There's still some time before the start of pre-season and I want players here who want to play for the good of the club."

Yesterday Lynn's local rivals Boston Utd were demoted from the Conference North to the UniBond Premier after losing their appeal, which raises the possibility of Lynn landing a Pilgrims player.
