THE Linnets have been handed a home FA Trophy tie against Stafford Rangers.
Lynn will host their Blue Square North rivals at The Walks on November 22, before entertaining them in the league a week later.

Linnets boss Keith Webb said: "The main thing is that we are home, but it will be a very difficult game.

"Stafford manager Steve Bull has turned their fortunes around from earlier in the season and they have started to climb the table.

"We had to work hard to get a point at Stafford in the league earlier this season and we will have to do the same again at home if we want to progress in the Trophy.

"There isn't much between the top 15 sides in this league so I'm expecting it to be a very tight game."

Lynn will have to do without influential striker Jack Defty for the cup encounter.

Defty received a straight red card during Saturday's 3-0 success over Solihull Moors (see page 55) and will be in the middle of a three-match suspension.

On his dismissal, Webb said: "I thought Jack was rather unlucky to be honest and I think the referee was too quick with his decision.

"From where I sat it looked a reasonable challenge, but the referee said to me that Jack went in over the top.

"In my eyes I think he has been penalised for being big and going in, but there's very little I can do about it once the referee has made his decision.

"It opens the debate about whether we should video our games, as with video evidence you can appeal."

Webb was delighted with the win, which ended a run of three successive home defeats in the space of a week.

"We were a bit edgy to start with, but you could see our confidence start coming back once we scored the first.

"It is good to get three points, three goals and a clean sheet, which you have to be happy about."

Webb defended his decision to drop the trio of Charlie Defty, Joe Francis and Andrew Fisk to the Reserves.

"Up until Saturday we had been too open recently and I had to do something about it.

"Apart from one or two individual errors, we were a lot more compact as a unit at the weekend.

"I'm paid to make decisions and they won't be the last ones I have to make this season."

Webb also played down rumours of a rift between him and Saturday's two-goal hero Julian Joachim.

"Julian and myself talk regularly and that's not my style of management not to talk to a player," said Webb.

"Expectations of him are very high and that's not surprising with a player of his calibre.

"There have been one or two occasions I haven't played him due to tactical reasons and one or two times I have left him out because I thought he wasn't producing the goods.

"It's good to see him score a couple of goals, but the last thing we want is him to now go five games without scoring.

"As long as he is working hard and doing a job for the team he will remain in the side."

l Sables are running a supporters' bus to Hucknall on Saturday, November 8, leaving The Walks at 10.30am.

Cost is £12.50 for OAP's and children and £15 for adults.
