THE Linnets have made their first signing of the close season with the capture of midfielder David Bridgwater.
Bridgwater (27) arrives at The Walks from Bromsgrove Rovers, who were relegated from the BGB League last season.

Delighted Linnets boss Keith Webb said: "I thought David played very well against us last season and he was one of two midfield players I had earmarked from other clubs we came up against last term.

"Unfortunately, the other player I liked has since joined Cambridge United. David can pass the ball and has all the qualities I like in a player."

Stourbridge-based Bridgwater made 40 appearances for Bromsgrove last season and set up Rovers' stoppage time equaliser against Lynn at the Victoria Ground in March.

Bridgwater, a former Aston Villa trainee, began his career at Preston.

Spells at Welsh side TNS, Aberystwyth Town Telford United and Moor Green followed before his stint with Bromsgrove.

Webb admitted that any more transfer activity is unlikely until it is rubber-stamped what league the club will be in next season.

"I've spoken to a lot of northern and southern-based players, but it is all up in the air at the moment," said Webb.

The Walks outfit are currently in the Conference North, but that may change depending on the future of debt-ridden Nuneaton Borough, who may be relegated after going into administration.

Linnets chairman Ken Bobbins and his Redditch counterpart have also written to the Football Association asking if the two clubs can be swapped leagues for next season.

Redditch, who were in the North, have been moved sideways to the South with Worcester City, losing a number of local derbies in the process.
