THE Linnets yesterday (29) completed the signing of northern-based defender Simon Weaver.
Thirty-year-old Weaver helped Lincoln City reach the League Two play-off final in 2003 and becomes Linnets boss Keith Webb's second signing of the summer.

The central-defender, who can also operate at right-back, joins ex-Imps team-mates, Ben Sedgemore, Dean West and Mark Camm, at Lynn.

On his new acquistion, Linnets boss Keith Webb said: "Simon has got a lot of experience, he's a winner and he'll bring a lot of enthusiasm to the squad.

"He is a leader on the pitch and someone you want when things are going against you."

Weaver admitted that he was left with little alternative but to move to pastures new after his brief spell with the Pilgrims.

Weaver said: "I was asked to take a major drop in wages by Boston.

"I have to travel from Wetherby and on the money I was offered, I don't think I could have done it.

"I would have been happy to accept a drop in wages, but not what I was being offered.

"It's disappointing, but there are no hard feelings from me."

After beginning his career as a trainee with Sheffield Wednesday, Weaver went on to enjoy a spell with Doncaster Rovers, before dropping into non-league football with both Ilkeston Town and Nuneaton Borough.

From there, former Lincoln City boss Keith Alexander took him to Sincil Bank in the summer of 2002, where he made more than 100 first team appearances.

Weaver has also played for Macclesfield Town, Kidderminster Harriers, Scarborough and Tamworth since his release by The Imps.

On any other future transfer targets, Webb, who begins a week's holiday on Sunday, said: "I want us to hit the ground running whatever league we're in and I want as many good players as I can get.

"I've spoken to loads of different players and some of these will be followed up when I return."

Season Ticket Reminder

A reminder to all supporters that there is now less than a week remaining of the special season ticket offer.

As from Monday, season tickets will be charged at 2008/09 prices, which will be announced some time next week.

The club office will open tomorrow following a busy Saturday just gone.

"Business was very brisk last weekend," confirmed club media officer Mark Hearle.

"It has been decided to open on Saturday morning to give everybody one final chance to purchase a ticket at the old rate."

Sales have already topped the 200 mark, an increase of 60 per cent year-on-year.

The club office will open from 9am until midday and will also be open office hours from Tuesday to Friday. Please call 01553 760060 for further details.

Casual admission and vice president details will be announced when available.
