Linnets boss Keith Webb says tomorrow's trip to second-spot Harrogate Town will be the sternest test yet of their unbeaten credentials.
He said: "Harrogate have spent money. They were up there at the top last year before they faded away, and I expect an extremely tough game.

"We're not going to hide the fact that this'll be the toughest test of the season so far.

"That's what we're in this league for, to play this sort of football. We've got to be playing somewhere at our best to get something out of it."

Although first team skipper Greg Crane returns from suspension, Webb warned that an automatic starting place is not guaranteed.

"Everybody has got to fight for a place. It puts me in a nice position. People will know on the day what the selection will be."

Webb should have a full squad to pick from, and is not pressing the panic button over the form of last season's top scorer Joe Francis, who has yet to get off the mark.

"He started last season the same. He has taken big steps in the last 18 months (Francis has jumped from Ridgeons League Premier, over two levels of Southern League Premier, to the Blue Square North in two years).

"If you'd said when I first signed him that Joe would score 20 goals and be Southern League player of the year you'd have laughed.

"Now people are saying it's the big time and he can't do it.

"He was never brought in as a goalscorer. As a winger he's got to provide crosses, and he's doing that.

"The quality of the ball could be better at times."

With ten league and cup games completed and Lynn in eighth place, Webb was asked if he'd have taken this position if somebody offered it at the start of the campaign.

He said: "Of course I would have taken it. I don't think anyone would have expected us to have been unbeaten in the league.

"We've done brilliantly, we're making progress."

Harrogate boss Neil Aspin was delighted with his side's response to losing to Tamworth in the Blue Square North last week, as they dominated fellow high-flyers Stalybridge Celtic in a 3-1 win on Saturday.

Aspin was quoted on the club's official website: "It was a great first half performance by us."

Wisbech 0 Lynn 0

THE Linnets drew in Monday night's Darren Jimson Testimonial at Wisbech Town – the final-ever game at Fenland Park.

Boss Keith Webb took a strong starting line-up. Lynn's Adam Smith came the closest when he hit the post with a free kick in the first half.

Webb said: "It was a good exercise. The players got a lot out of it and we worked on a couple of systems."

Att: 350.
