Published Date: 25 September 2007
It was a day of celebration for employees at West Norfolk Council when storeman Hubert Smalls enjoyed a birthday drink with colleagues.
This picture was drawn by local artist Bob Booth, who also did work for the Beano comic, and shows Mr Smalls celebrating his 60th birthday at the council's former home on Wood Street, Lynn.

The sketch has been passed down through the family and was brought to the Lynn News by Mr Smalls' nephew Peter Smalls, of Snettisham.

He believes the picture dates back to the late 1950s or early 1960s and is keen to trace the names of those captured in the drawing. His uncle is the man in the middle, with colleagues Bob Chase and Pip Ess pictured on the left.

Mr Smalls hopes to have the picture framed and plans to donate it to the council.

Bob Booth,

King's Lynn 08/10/2007 17:18:15
The cartoon was drawn by Bill Booth (my uncle) - this was one of thousands he drew of people he knew. He also worked for the Topper comic and drew the 'Foxy' stories. He will be 95 this year and still lives in Lynn. Bob Booth is responsible for the two books 'King's Lynn in the 1930s' & 'Looking Back at Lynn' currently available in Waterstones bookshops.
