These form the True's Yard Sound Archive, and have recently been recorded and preserved onto CD format from their early beginnings as cassette tapes.

We are keen to add to this archive and would like anyone interested in having their memories of the old North End and the town of Lynn recorded, to contact us.

Our expert volunteers, Peter and Arthur, can visit people locally, and record and preserve their tales, using the latest technology recording equipment. It is so important to preserve an oral record for future generations before many memories are lost forever.

Our programme of exhibitions this year has begun in spectacular style, as we showcase an exhibition commemorating the Mart at Lynn.

It is a truly colourful and vibrant exhibition, using a film show, light show, sound recordings and beautifully-presented photographs and exhibits. The exhibition will run through until the end of March and is well worth a visit.

Another date for the diary is a special evening of film in our gallery, featuring two short films on Wednesday, March 5, from 7.15-9.15pm. Teas and coffees will be available in the interval with tickets costing £3 each, which are for sale in our gift shop.

The films showcased will be: St Nicholas – the story of a Chapel, narrated by local historian Dr Paul Richards, and Memories of Lynn, a film marking the changes to the town over the past 100 years. All these events raise funds for our appeal to extend the museum and improve our exhibits.

The Friends of True's Yard are kicking off their 2008 programme of events with a dessert and pudding evening in the tearoom on Friday, April 4. Anyone can become a Friend.

For a modest annual subscription, museum friends receive the benefits of free entry to the museum, 20 per cent discount for friends and family visiting with you, half-price use of the archives and a newsletter twice a year.

It is an invaluable way of supporting the museum, making new friends and promoting and joining in with fundraising activities.
