More than 50 property owners have expressed an interest in a £2million scheme to breathe new life into a historic area of Lynn.

The St Margaret’s Townscape Heritage Initiative was created last year thanks to funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund and West Norfolk Council.

Property owners within Tower Street, St James’ Street and Saturday Market Place are invited to apply for grant funding to renovate buildings, in a bid to tidy up this area.

A total of 51 property owners have held discussions with council officers and it is hoped that grant applications will be submitted shortly.

A report to Thursday’s full council meeting by deputy leader Alistair Beales also states that officers have held conservations have been held with the new owners of the Wenns pub.

This report also states: “An application for planning permission, listed building consent and grant aid is expected shortly.”

The meeting will be held in the town hall at 6.30pm.
