RAF Marham is hosting its largest Christmas event ever today to raise money for its thriving community centre and boost morale.
The Christmas Fayre and Farmers’ Market has been organised by mums Vicky Sing and Sarah Hudson, who run Tums 2 Teenies, a parent and toddler group based at the station’s Sandringham Centre.
After organising a successful Christmas Fayre last year,
they took on the challenge of organising an even bigger event this time round.
The pair, who both have two children, said: “Although Marham is the largest RAF station in the country, it can get pretty lonely when you are left alone here for weeks, even months on end.
“We hope events like this will not only help support the Sandringham Centre but also improve morale among the families here, and forge stronger links with the local communities.”
Today’s event, which runs from 10am to 5pm, features around 40 stalls with most of them made up of West Norfolk businesses. There will also be a grand prize draw with more than 20 prizes, and afterwards there will be a tree lighting and carol service complete with a children’s choir, mulled wine and mince pies.
The Sandringham Centre is used daily, by both families of serving personnel and other members of the community. It is home to Tums 2 Teenies, Kiddigym, brownies, judo, ballet and two youth clubs and also hosts courses, summer activities and fundraising events.
