A FIRE engulfed the former Fosters Sports and Social Club, in Ferry Road, Clenchwarton, last night (Tuesday).
Firefighters were called to the scene at 5.50pm and six crews from Lynn, Sandringham and Terrington St Clement, plus a water carrier from Fakenham, were eventually called in. They were still battling the flames at 8pm last night.

An ambulance was also called at 6.15pm, but it is thought that was just a precaution and no one was taken to hospital.

The blaze in the two storey derelict building is being treated as deliberate.

The social club, which once had hundreds of members, was open for 25 years until Foster Refrigerator announced it was to close in 2004 and money invested into other worker benefits.
