HELP is out there if you need it, a West Norfolk dad is reminding those suffering from eating disorders.
Alan Riddell (62) founded a group to support people caring for loved ones with disorders including anorexia, bulimia and binge eating after his daughter Ruth (22) developed anorexia three-and-a-half years ago.
The group has since gone from strengt
h to strength, now helping sufferers themselves, but Mr Riddell wants more people to be aware of the help on offer.
His daughter is now recovering well, but at the time Mr Riddell felt he had no-one to turn to and a local group for carers did not exist.
He began the project at the end of 2007 to fill the gap and give carers the chance to "off-load" while sharing their experiences.
Mr Riddell said: "The group mainly offers support, advice and help for sufferers and carers. We are not a medical group, we can't treat people, but we can point them in the right direction.
"It's all confidential and a friendly and informal greeting awaits them, with no fees involved."
It meets at Lynn's Piece of Mind centre, Austin Street, on alternate Mondays. For details, call Mr Riddell on 07867 662251 or Joyce Armstrong, at Heacham Piece of Mind centre, on 01485 572707.
