A HOLME Hale woman who went through the trauma of a double mastectomy after being diagnosed with breast cancer is holding a fundraiser tomorrow evening to help other patients.
Dawn Westhorpe (52), of School Road, wanted to hold an event for the Lynn Breast Cancer Aftercare Group to thank it for the help it gave her after she had surgery to remove both her breasts last November.

Since then she has had chemotherapy and be
en through the group’s support process, including attending its regular Wednesday morning exercise classes and meetings at Lynn Masonic Centre on the North Lynn Business Park.

Owner Stuart Bell is letting her hold tomorrow’s event at the Hollywood Legends restaurant on the A47 Swaffham bypass, near the A1122 Downham road roundabout, from 6pm to 9pm and he is also making a generous donation to the fundraising.

Mrs Westhorpe said the venue will be open for business as usual, but entertainment will be provided for diners by singer-guitarist Roger Williams, from Gemini, whose appearance is being sponsored by the Norwich and Peterborough Building Society at Swaffham.

There will also be a big raffle for prizes donated by local shops and businesses.

Mrs Westhorpe, whose daughter, Gemma, is the restaurant manager, said: “We are not a funded charity and I’m hoping to get enough money for a coach to take a party from the support group to the Downtown superstore and garden centre at Grantham.”
