THE Lynn News has teamed up with Lynn's Queen Elizabeth Hospital to raise £150,000 to expand and improve its lifesaving unit for ill and premature babies.
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit needs your help to get the funds to ensure the best possible facilities are available in Lynn and reduce the likelihood of parents having to travel to Norwich, Cambridge or further afield.
The appeal aims to raise enough money to help the hospital overhaul the unit and increase the number of babies it can care for.
Hitting the target will allow the unit to increase its number of specialist cots from 12 to 14, get the latest in security and CCTV, provide a second overnight room for parents, a quiet area for nurses to prepare medication and give the whole unit a much-needed freshen up.
The unit's senior sister Debbie Coe said: "People are often saying to us you don't realise when you, your family or friends are going to need us and that is why it is really important everyone gets behind the appeal."
You can now make donations to the appeal at the hospital either in person or via post or why not get the appeal off to a fighting start and organise a fundraising event?
Special donation and sponsorship forms are available for collection from the hospital or the
Lynn News offices, in Purfleet Street, Lynn.
You can also collect posters to display in your window at home or work or at your fundraiser.
When you are ready to pay in your money, fill in a donation form printed in the paper and the hospital can increase the value of your donation by almost a third at no extra cost to you through Gift Aid.
Send your cheques, payable to Special Care Baby Appeal 01874, and donation forms to: The finance department, Special Care Baby Appeal, The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, King's Lynn NHS Trust, Gayton Road, King's Lynn, Norfolk, PE30 4ET.
Cash donations can also be dropped in there, but please do not bring them to the
Lynn News office.
