Lynn: No plans to change cemetery grass-cutting

WEST Norfolk Council has no plans to review a recently-introduced reduced grass-cutting regime at Lynn's Hardwick Road Cemetery.
Nearby residents protested at the decision, voicing safety and security fears as the grass was left to grow several feet tall.
The chairman of the Friends of the Cemetery, Dr Julian Litten, also called for more consultation over which areas should receive less maintenance.
The council's head of leisure and public open space, Mr Chris Bamfield, commented: "The new regime encourages natural plants and wildlife and there is currently no plan to review it.
"Pathways are cut where appropriate for access and in the areas that are more frequently visited by relatives and friends, the maintenance regime is more intensive."
The secretary of the Friends, Mr Colin Houseman, said members had met the Cemetery Registrar and agreed on some of the areas to be mown.
An open day due to take place at the cemetery from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, July 12, was going ahead as planned, he added.
