PLANS to build a new gospel hall in Ashill look likely to be thrown out by councillors following a raft of objections.
Swaffham Gospel Hall Trust wants to build a new hall on land which objectors say is outside the village's development boundary.

The trust says the hall, off Watton Road, would be a single-storey building for use as a meeting hall with foyer, toilets and store room and 21 off-road parking spaces provided.

But Ashill Parish Council has unanimously opposed the scheme, and said many villagers are also against it.

It said it is outside the planning boundary, the entrance is close to a dangerous bend, there is already too much traffic coming into the village on Sundays using the church and Evangelical meeting hall, and said the area would be spoilt by another hall. Objections from residents included concerns about trees on the site, lighting, drainage, pedestrian access and devaluation of property.

Highways and planning officers have not objected to the proposal, but Breckland Council's development control board is being recommended to refuse permission at its meeting on Monday.
