POP in for a drink and a snack – and please bring along the children.
That is the invitation from a new family-friendly café that has just opened in London Road, Lynn.

Jonathan and Sara Burr are keen that their Nourish-No Rush venture should have a community feel so as well as serving food and drinks, they have provided a play area for children and an internet access corner.

"We want our customers to come in here and take their time and for the children to amuse themselves while parents enjoy a leisurely drink or meal," said Mrs Burr. "We have two young children and we know that it is not easy for parents to find a café where they and the youngsters can relax."

Mr Burr works for Abbey Farm, at Flitcham, which supplies organic fruit and vegetables which are used by the café.

"All of the food and drinks available will be either organic, local, seasonal or fair trade so cutting down on food miles as well as supporting local producers and ensuring overseas providers get a fair wage for their work," said Mr Burr.

As well as catering for customers with special diets, including vegetarians and vegans, the café sells organic and fairtrade dried and tinned goods and some environmentally-friendly skin hygiene and cleaning products.

The café, on the corner of Providence Street, is open from 9am to 5pm from Tuesday to Saturday each week, and will be manned by the Burrs with help from a team of volunteers. Ten per cent of any profits will be donated to charity.
