YOUNGSTERS from two West Norfolk schools have helped in the production of a new DVD featuring Brancaster Staithe.
Smithdon High School at Hunstanton and St George's Junior School at Dersingham were both approached to take part in the project, which has produced a 30-minute DVD called Brancaster Mussels.

Twelve youngsters from each school spent five sessions in January and February working on the film with the help of Yarmouth film-maker Matthew Harrison.

Backing for the film came from the Sky Television-sponsored School Arts Partnership.

It is working with the National Trust to set up 34 projects where two schools will work together with professionals to produce arts projects.

The Brancaster film featured local mussel fishermen and the history of the area.

Different styles of film-making were used for the final DVD, including animation and scenes shot in the style of 8mm cine film.

Head of drama at Smithdon Mr David Kelsey said he was very pleased students from the school had been involved in the project.

All those involved received a copy of the film and certificate at a special celebration evening held at Smithdon on April 30.
