POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a vicious attack in Lynn in which a man in his late teens to early 20s punched a girl student in the face.
The incident happened as the 16-year-old girl, who has not been named, was walking home along Tennyson Avenue, from the College of West Anglia towards The Walks, between 2.30pm and 2.45pm last Wednesday.

Sergeant Wes Hornigold, of Lynn Police, said the unknown man approached the girl and punched her in the face, before walking off towards the college.

"He was a complete stranger and it was a completely unprovoked attack," he said.

The girl, who suffered bruising and swelling to her face, went to Lynn's Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment to her injuries before being discharged.

Anyone who witnessed the assault, or with information about it, is asked to contact PC Christopher Smith, at Lynn Police Station, on 0845 456 4567, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
