Swaffham fails in lottery bid

SWAFFHAM has failed in its bid to win cash for a sensory garden from the People's Millions fund in a contest run through the Anglia East news programme.
However, there is still a chance it could win funds tonight (Friday) if it is judged the best runner-up.

The project, for a garden in the town's recreation ground, went head to head in a public vote with Norfolk Deaf Association's Listen Here! project on Tuesday on the ITV programme.

The winner was announced on Wednesday night.

A big crowd had turned out at the recreation ground in Haspalls Road for filming of a two-minute sequence on the project to take place.
