A £58,000 tractor which was stolen, stripped and burned-out led to the jailing of two men at Norwich Crown Court on Friday.
Lee Sharp (26), of 25 Sporle Road, Swaffham, and Michael Dixon (21), of 232 Jex Road, Norwich, admitted stealing the tractor on September 15 last year.

Mr Nick Methold, prosecuting, told the court a lot of damage was done when the tractor, attached to a harvester, was removed.

It was later found burned out.

Sharp admitted taking the tractor but denied burning it.

He was jailed for eight months by Judge Simon Barham.

Dixon was jailed for a total of 15 months – including four months for handling and three for breaching a suspended sentence.

He admitted handling stereos and other property taken from cars parked in Swaffham.

In mitigation, Mr Guy Ayres, for Sharp, said he had stayed out of trouble since 2004 but a combination of cannabis and alcohol affected his judgement.

Mr Michael McGee, for Dixon, said his client had a drugs problem as well as alcohol and he became involved.

Judge Barham told them they were not the only ones involved in the tractor incident.

"You decided to steal it, but did not set fire to it," he said.
