SUPERMARKET giant Tesco has apologised to a Runcton Holme woman who ran into trouble trying to return a CD.
The woman, who does not want to be named, bought the CD from Ely’s Tesco store on Saturday, August 16.
She intended it as a gift but, discovering the recipient already had it, decided to take it into the Downham store nearer her home and ask for h
er money back.
However, although she had the receipt, no refund was forthcoming.
The 27-year-old woman told the Lynn News she understood there were concerns about such CDs having been burned and also copyright.
“I was also told there was no cellophane wrapper on the CD,” said the woman. “I pointed out none of the CDs had cellophane wrappers, both at Ely or Downham Tescos.
“I am perfectly within my rights as a customer to get a refund/exchange for a different CD, especially as I had a receipt to prove the purchase.”
The woman said it was suggested she go back to Ely which she did, the next day, and got a refund without problem.
“I had to make a special trip to go through the same thing again,” said the woman. “I could have done without it with petrol being so expensive and my health not in good order. Stress certainly doesn’t help.”
A Tesco spokesman said: “We apologise to the customer as this was purely an error of judgement. We will be investigating and offering further training.”
